This was such a great post! I keep hearing so many conflicting opinions about air drying vs using heat. Some say it’s damaging to the hair if it’s wet for too long and say heat is fine as long as the hair dryer keeps moving and is far enough away. Good to hear your thoughts on the matter - your hair looks fabulous!
Honestly - I am so grateful, I have hair like this naturally, and it really turned into this when I finally stopped cutting my hair short after college. I always reco a leave-in conditioner, and an oil helps tame the frizz. I like Crown Affair for both. If you are prone to frizz, I also found getting a Brazilian blowout really, really helped and at first was more straight, but ends up being more like my texture, without so much frizz. A boar bristle brush like a Buly travel brush or the Crown Affair brush is great too if you want to "mess up" the curls just a touch.
Iles Formula is amazing and that Oribe liquid gold is my favourite. I’m happy to report we share the same hair-wardrobe and I’m super envious of your ‘undone’ balayage ! xC
agree your hair is enviously grand. i noticed as i got older my hair doesn’t grow as long as it did and makes my face look aged. for better or worse i get a Brazilian blow out every summer. i am also addicted to my local blow dry bar.
Love this! My hair is to my waist and I'm always looking for low-maintenance hacks. The best I've found so far was from a TikTok by phoebekatewilliams (part 4 | my haircare routine from 2-2024) and at the end, she does heatless waves in a totally unique way that has CHANGED MY LIFE. Seriously. Go look it up!!
Sooo funny and relatable at the same time. I too am strugling with humidity especially, not to mention that during different hormonal cycles, different things happen to my strands. It's annoying really, but will definitely have a look and try some of the products you've recommended here.
On a separate note, could you share what you use to make the audio for this Substack. I can't seem to find a suitable audio transcript that doesn't cost a liver :D
Really? I thought you uploaded the audio by yourself. Is it like a built in feature? It doesn’t show on my posts. Thanks anyway, I’ll check settings as well , maybe I haven’t set it right 😏
I’ve been so curious about the Iles formula! I might have to try it now. It will be hard to pull me away from The Christophe Robin Hydrating Shampoo & Hydrating Melting Mask.

Thank you so much!
Christina I sat near you at an Hermes’ lunch in Athens once and you really do have hair like a Botticelli girl 😭 I love this post
Omg hi! That was such a magical trip…and this is the most generous compliment ever, thank you!! Hope you’re well!!! ♥️

This is also my dream hair, so I lapped up every word. Any idea how the Crown Affair mousse works with sensitive scalps?
I’m not sure, but I bet if you DMed them they could give more guidance than I could! ♥️
This was EXCELLENT thank you!!!

So useful! Thank you! I love the Gold Lust Oil too, it’s amazing.

Have you tried the Hydrating line?! How does it compare?
I haven’t!

I love everything Christophe touches also and once I started using Iles Formula I never turned back! Lemme know what you think if you try it! X
