Random things inspiring me this week...
Vintage atomizer necklaces, summer dressing, coffin cigarette boxes, and more.
It’s been quite a busy week or so, and much to my disappointment, I haven’t had much time to sit and write. But no matter how preoccupied I am with work and other matters, I am always seeking and filing away inspiration (and trying to do so in an organized fashion because *points to head* there’s a lot going on up there). Below, enjoy 15 things I’ve seen and liked this week. Let me know your favorites!
This look from John Galliano S/S 1992
Listen, if I have to exist during the hellscape that is summer, this is arguably all I want to wear (minus the prom curls).
These tassels by the brand Baar Baar
I love tassels, everywhere, all the time. And call me crazy, but I feel like nipple tassels should be next. But like, on a shirt. I don’t know–it could be chic.
Old library cards
I haven’t checked out a library book since college, but there’s something about old library cards that feels nostalgic and special. We used to be a real society! I’ve just ordered an old date stamp–I’ve no clue what I’ll use it for, but I like it.
This photo of Brigitte Bardot in the 1970s
As a perpetually-sleepless Pisces, this strikes me as true serenity.
Vintage Atomizer Necklaces
As someone who finds great joy in leaving a trail of beautiful fragrance in her wake, I’m obsessed with the idea of wearing perfume around one’s neck, to have and to hold at all hours. Bonus points if it’s vintage brass. (This one is from Etsy.)
This look from Olivier Theyskens S/S 1999
I love the contrast of the cross-like cut and subtle irreverence of exposed skin.
Patti Smith at Sylvia Plath’s grave site in Hepstonstall, West Yorkshire
The spirits of these two women together in the same space are almost too powerful.
Kate Moss by Sam Taylor Wood, 1998
Sister Kate!
Victorian High-Top Roller Skates
This are likely the only way anyone is ever getting me to stand on wheels.
Françoise Sagan with her cat and a typewriter, photographed by Burt Glinn in 1958
I would say this reminds me of myself and Stevie, but she is too busy eating Q-tips to be bothered by anything I do on my typewriter.
This look from Nina Ricci F/W 2019.
I love the styling of the clochette, and the shorts paired with the oversized knit. There is such a short window of time that such a look can work, climate speaking, but I love the silhouette.
This piece from the artist Susannah Carson
I love all of her work, but this cross design is really special.
This vintage coffin cigarette box advertisement
There needs to be more dark humor in marketing these days.
Alright, back to my inbox I go!

Love this and how it’s an intentional collection of things you like and inspire you. While I may not be in the same creative industry as you, I think we could all benefit taking time, clearing space (physically and mentally) and finding things that make our hearts go pitter patter. ☺️
I have a tassle I'd be happy to send you as I hate it on the purse I bought. Off with the tassle I say but would re-gift only to you. And very sadly after I finally learned to use the card catalogue and dewey decimal system it was banished by technology
